Archives For The Muse Connection

Today I have been pondering what to do with my skein of Terra given to us by The Fibre Company at the Muse Connection Volume 1.

It is an Aran weight yarn – 90metres/98yds so its a bit tricky amount to do a single skein project with but never fear! I found lots of ideas which may also help with a few other small and perfect skeins of yarn in my stash.

With such lovely yarn I’m thinking that it would make a lovely gift….or something nice for me!

So of course I turned to Ravelry and my first search was on the “Yarn” tab and I searched “Terra Fibre Company”. I then selected the “Projects” tab to see what others had made with the yarn. After a bit of looking I realised that I could do an advanced search and select the exact amount I had to narrow down the results.

I found a few good options with this search:

So then I decided to widen my search to any Aran weight project that used one skein.

This time I went to the Pattern tab and clicked straight on the “pattern browser and advanced search” link under the search box.

Then on the left hand side I selected filters Weight = Aran and Meterage. At first I selected 0-150 metres but then realised I could get even more specific and selected “cusomize: enter a range…” down the bottom of the box and put in 0-90 – that would give me just projects that used the exact amount I have.

Using this search I found a lot of cute ideas. General ideas include baby hats (as above!), headbands, small fingerless gloves, boot toppers, cozies for mugs and phones and little toys.

A few that caught my eye in particular are:

The Muse Connection: Volume 2

Helen —  March 18, 2015 — 1 Comment

The Muse Connection is a series of gatherings where we celebrate creativity, share our inspiration and come together as crafters. A Playful Day and Curious Handmade have collaborated in order to create sessions of creative fun, pulling together our two loves- maintaining a playfulness in the everyday and exploring our curiosity about new and creative things to make. For a few indulgent hours, enjoy inspirational company, at specially chosen venues for some knitting, a little chatter and share some musings on your favourite creative topics.

After the inspiration we shared for Volume 1 on colour and community, The Muse Connection will be exploring the theme of ‘beginnings’. Building on what made Volume 1 so popular we will once again be bringing like minded makers together as part of our Muse Connection Community and we can’t wait to share everything we’ve planned.

In this Volume we’re adding more: more door prizes, more goodies in the bags and some very special guests that we’ll be announcing shortly. Tickets go on sale this Saturday and we’re expecting quite a fast turn around following the reaction to Volume 1 so mark it in your diary!

The Muse Connection Volume 2

Tickets are £18 (plus booking fee) and include the following:

  • An exclusive goodie bag (containing goodies worth over £15!)
  • 3 and a half hours of indulgent time to knit and indulge your making
  • Become part of the Muse Connection community with exclusive first peeks at designs, products and future volumes
  • Delicious food and drink (gluten free options included)
  • 2 very special guests who will be sharing a unique insight into their knitty inspirations
  • Yarn tasting courtesy of our sponsor

For further announcements such as the refreshment plans, special guests and fun surprises, you can sign up for our newsletter on the event page, which is also where tickets will go on sale this weekend.

See you there?

ps Don’t forget you can win a goodie bag from Volume 2 both here on Curious Handmade and at A Playful Day!

Things are coming together nicely for Volume 1 of the Muse Connection.

I can’t wait to meet everyone and spend a lovely afternoon together.

A Playful Day and I were somewhat overwhelmed when the package of stunning yarn arrived for your goodie bags.

This Fibre Company Terra yarn comes in such a luscious range of colours I think my talk about colour is practically going to write itself. Let’s hope anyway!

Tickets for the first event have sold out but we are busy working on Volume 2 so keep an eye out!

TMC Volume 1 with Drink, Shop, Do

When hosting a creative event, you need a great venue!

We chose Drink Shop Do to host the first gathering of The Muse Connection because of it’s central London location and has a quirky, crafty feel. If you’ve not been before, you should pop in for some tea and cake or pour over their shop at the front. I love the oversized sweetie jars, mismatched furniture and beautiful light.

Here’s some details of what to expect…

‘Musings on Colour and Community’

Our first meet. This is an afternoon for the colour lovers. Bring a skein or two that you wish to pass along to fellow crafters and perhaps find something that speaks to you. Our stashes should bring us joy and inspiration and Helen will be introducing the afternoon with a talk on colour and how best to work that into your knits.

Unlimited tea and coffee plus a slice (or two!) of cake are included in your ticket price and we’ll be gifting each attendee with a carefully curated treat. A delicious menu of savoury snacks is also available from the venue.

With your mind full of colour inspiration, there will be a little time to peruse the offerings and pick a favourite before Kate brings the proceedings to an end with a reflection on community and how we work together to create.

What’s included in your ticket purchase:

  • Unlimited tea/ coffee
  • An exclusive good bag (containing goodies worth over £15!)
  • Delicious cake (gluten free options included)
  • 2 talks from A Playful Day and Curious Handmade
  • Yarn tasting courtesy of The Fibre Company
  • A yarn swap with a twist (rules of engagement to be announced very soon)
  • Tickets are on sale here now!
