This is a big, action-packed episode this week. Today I’m chatting about recent and upcoming designs, but most of all I deep-dive into my magical experience of Rhinebeck, where I met so many amazing people, had lots of lovely knitting time, and kept my yarn purchases to a bare minimum…mostly.

Alongside an eclectic yarn range, which includes Hazel Knits, Icelandic Lopi & CoopKnits, we stock a carefully chosen selection of needles and notions. We’ve also recently launched ‘hand dyed by meadowyarn’, our very own in-house, hand-dyed yarn range. Working in our tiny dye studio, nestled in the Suffolk countryside, we are able to indulge our love of colour, producing complex tonal, kettle-dyed shades across a range of weights and bases. With regular updates our collections evolve and grow, inspired by the landscape and people around us.
AYS is a wool boutique specializing in hand dyed yarns and luxury fibres from around the world. You’ll always find a well curated collection of yarns and colors on the shelves and a friendly knowledgeable staff on hand. Some of our favorite brands include Hedgehog Fibres, SweetGeorgia Yarn, Julie Asselin, Shibui Knits and The Fibre Co. The unmistakable strains of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker conjures up dreamy images and heartfelt emotion for children and adults alike: the sparkle of the Sugar Plum Fairy, the boundless energy of the gallant Nutcracker, Clara’s wistful journey and final triumph. With so much romance and joy, I knew that this beloved holiday ballet was the perfect inspiration for Knitvent this year. Each of the six mystery patterns this season draw from the spirit of the Nutcracker’s enchanted dreamworld, dancing between the elegant beauty of a prima ballerina and the wide-eyed wonder of a child lost in the Land of Sweets.
Every year, the Curious Handmade community gathers together to celebrate Knitvent: a lovely mix between an advent calendar and a mystery knit along. Each week a surprise accessory pattern will appear in your Ravelry library. Each pattern has been designed to be ideal for gifting, but don’t forget to be good to yourself, too!
Along with the six designs, Knitvent brings with it a warm and bubbly community of warm-hearted knitters who love to share the anticipation, admire each other’s work, and offer a helping hand wherever it’s needed. We’ll have chatter and KALs and prizes and a very warm sense of holiday magic to make our needles fly.
