Choosing Knitvent 2025 Yarn

One of the joys of Knitvent is choosing the yarn that will bring each secret design to life.
This year’s collection celebrates scrappy joy—those little bits and beloved leftovers we’ve tucked away over time—but that doesn’t mean you have to rely solely on your stash (unless you want to!).

Whether you’re planning to knit from treasured odds and ends, a beautiful new set of minis, or a fresh palette from your favourite dyer, this post will help you gather everything you need for the season ahead.

Using what you have

If you’ve been saving tiny scraps or partial skeins from past projects, this is your moment to let them shine. Mix and match colours, fibres, and textures. Part of the fun this year is seeing what unexpected combinations emerge! A handful of leftover minis can turn into something truly special.

Treating yourself to new minis

Not everyone has a stash, and even seasoned stash-divers sometimes enjoy topping up with something new. We’ve reached out to some wonderful indie dyers who offer mini skeins and sets in DK and 4 ply/sock yarn, perfect for this year’s Knitvent patterns.

As the season unfolds, we’ll be adding a list of participating dyers here so you can “shop the post” — discovering beautiful yarns from around the world and supporting small creative businesses along the way.

If you’re a dyer and would like to be included, please tag @curioushandmade and use the hashtag #knitvent2025 on Instagram.

However you begin…

The best yarn for Knitvent is the one that brings you joy to work with. Whether it’s a skein that’s been waiting patiently in your stash or a newly arrived mini set in your favourite palette, every strand tells part of your creative story.

So gather your yarns, wind a few minis, and make yourself a cosy space for the weeks ahead….our scrappy season of colour and connection is just getting started!
