A scrappy, sparkly season of secrets, treasures, and handmade joy
The countdown to Knitvent 2025 has officially begun! This year’s theme celebrates the beloved scraps and little treasures tucked away in our baskets, project bags and craft cupboards: half-used balls of yarn, button boxes, notions and little leftovers that remind us of projects past.
Each of these fragments holds a story. Together, they’ll become something new: six secret patterns designed to give you a little bit of festive joy amid the bustle of the busy gift-knitting season.
This year, all the secret patterns are scrappy: designed to use up your scrap stash or minis. Of course, not everyone keeps a stash, and that’s perfectly okay! You can still enjoy all the patterns using freshly freshly chosen yarn. Whether you’re gathering minis from friends, opening an advent calendar, or treating yourself to a new skein or two, this season is about creativity, connection, and comfort, not rules.
What is Knitvent?
Knitvent is Curious Handmade’s annual mystery collection: a blend of a knitalong, a countdown calendar, and a cosy celebration of community.
Over five festive weeks, six secret knitting patterns are revealed one by one. Each design is created to be a small treat for yourself or a heartfelt handmade gift for someone you love.
It’s like a mini countdown calendar for knitters, filled with pattern surprises, inspiration, and friendly company.

Yarn questions
Do I have to use scraps or minis?
Not at all! You can knit each design with leftovers, an advent calendar, or new skeins. Each pattern includes yarn weight and quantity info, and you can easily adapt for different colour choices.
What yarn weight are the patterns?
You’ll see a mix across the collection.
Can I use one or two colours instead of many?
Absolutely! While this year’s theme celebrates scrappy creativity, each pattern will still shine in a simpler colour palette if that’s your style.
How does the mystery work?
When you preorder Knitvent 2025, you’ll immediately receive a PDF information sheet with all the details you need to get started.
Then, starting November 4, a new secret pattern (or two!) will automatically appear in your Ravelry library or arrive by email if you purchased on Gumroad.
Each week’s reveal is like opening a little advent window, a surprise treat just for you.
What’s the knitalong?
Knitvent is a shared adventure, and the community knitalong runs from the first pattern reveal through the holiday season and into the new year.

Will there be prizes or giveaways?

What level of knitter do I need to be?
Patterns are designed for adventurous beginners to intermediate knitters. Each includes detailed written instructions, and charts are provided when useful.
What if I need help?
Email support@curioushandmade.com and we’ll be happy to assist. There’s just one lovely human on the other end (across many time zones, so please be patient with us!)
Can I gift the patterns to someone else?
Yes! Both Ravelry and Gumroad allow you to purchase the collection as a gift — a perfect surprise for a knitting friend.
Do I need Ravelry to join?
No. You can buy and download everything through Gumroad if you prefer not to use Ravelry.
What if I miss a pattern release?
No problem at all — once you’ve purchased Knitvent 2025, the patterns are yours to download anytime.
Do I need to finish all six patterns?
Absolutely not. Some knitters make one or two, some knit them all. There’s no deadline and no pressure, just fun, festive knitting at your own pace.
