Each year, I choose a theme that not only inspires the designs but also ignites our collective creativity, allowing us to craft a shared experience brimming with ideas, memories, and inspiration as we knit along together.
As I sat down and started sorting through my inspiration for Knitvent 2024, something seemed different. Usually, when I design a holiday collection, I love leaning into the swirl of nostalgia that seems to define the season.Ā
But this time, my mind wanted to wander somewhere new. Itās been a year of big changes, and Iāve relished the rush of optimism and fizz of fresh energy that comes with a new start. I wondered how it would feel to bring that same spirit of reinvention to my holiday traditions, starting with Knitvent.Ā
āFreshā was my word of the year, after all. Something clicked, and I knew we had our theme.
The Knitvent 2024 collection is an invitation to embrace the joy of exploration and new beginnings. A time to shake things up. Release old expectations and ask ourselves new questions. Decide which rituals we truly love and which ones we might be ready to let go. Invent new traditions and craft our own definitions of celebration.Ā
What would the holidays look like if we just let our creativity run wild? If we allowed our joy to make the plans and run the show? I donāt have all the answers yet, but Iām ready to be surprised. How about you?
How does Knitvent work?
Curious Handmadeās annual Knitvent collection blends the curiosity and community spirit of a mystery knitalong with the excitement and momentum of a holiday countdown calendar.
Each week of Knitvent, a secret knitting pattern (or two!) is revealed. With six fresh patterns bundled into one low price, itās a small but well-deserved treat for yourselfāa weekly flash of surprise and delight at a time of year that often asks a lot of us.

Key details to know:
- You’ll receive SIX beautiful knitting patterns, including a large “scrappy” pattern ideal for using a yarn advent calendar, and at least one shawl!
- This is a PRE-SALE period, so when you first buy the collection you will receive a downloadable PDF info sheet until the first pattern is revealed.
- Either one or two patterns will be released each week for five weeks. Knitvent patterns are released on Thursdays, starting November 7th and ending December 5th.
- All patterns will be written in the Curious Handmade percentage checklistā¢ style, fully written with charts where needed.
- Level of pattern difficulty will be adventurous beginner to intermediate.
- The patterns will be delivered automatically to your Ravelry inbox or by email if you purchase on Gumroad, so opening your message each week is like peeking behind the window of an advent calendar to see what surprise is inside!
