It’s time for the Twenty Four Birds MKAL Giveaway!

Would you like to be in with a chance to win a creative treat? We’re celebrating the launch of the Twenty Four Birds Shawl MKAL, which means it’s time for a special giveaway!

The grand prize is a $50 (or local currency equivalent) gift voucher to your favourite indie dyer or local yarn store (be sure to nominate them in your entry in case you win!)

Also, five runner-ups will receive a free Curious Handmade pattern of their choice.

Whenever we host a giveaway, we like to use it as a chance to explore our theme a little more and to give us opportunities to share and learn about each other.

The giveaway posts are always full of beautiful personal stories and images. Often knitters end up choosing yarn that reflects their entry, either by pulling shades and tones from their photos or finding a colourway name that echoes their story. If that sounds fun to you, we’d love to see your inspiration!

How to Enter the Giveaway

Step 1: Grab your copy of the Twenty Four Birds mystery pattern on Ravelry or Gumroad (if you’ve already joined, hooray! And thank you!)

Step 2: Share about a piece of nature that makes your life better: whether that’s on a grand or miniature scale. It could be as simple as a favourite bird or animal, a daily walk, or a tree you see outside your window: it’s just wonderful to learn about each other’s inspirations and find out more about what brings you joy.

You can share three different ways, depending on what suits you best:

  1. Post in the Giveaway Thread in the Curious Handmade Ravelry Group
  2. Leave a comment on this Instagram giveaway post
  3. Post on your own Instagram or Facebook account with the hashtag #TwentyFourBirdsGiveaway

You can share in just one spot or all three, it’s up to you!

If you want to share an image in your post, it can be anything related to your entry. A photo, a painting, a sketch, a William Morris wallpaper, a fabric scrap…whatever catches your eye, brings you joy, and reflects your love of nature.

The giveaway ends when the first clue is released on March 21st, 2024: we’ll use a random number generator to pick the winners.

Please be sure to nominate your LYS or indie yarn dyer in your comments (and it’s also very helpful if you can check and make sure they do offer online gift cards/vouchers.)

Good luck everyone!

Still need to join? How to get the mystery shawl pattern:

Between now and Thursday, March 21st, you can get the Twenty Four Birds MKAL for a special Early Bird price of £5 (plus applicable VAT). Once the first clue is revealed, the price will go up to £6.

No code is needed for the Early Bird price – the discount is already applied in Ravelry (Just a note: Ravelry automatically adds VAT which makes the price appear higher for knitters in the EU. Unfortunately it’s not up to me.)

Preorder the Twenty Four Birds MKAL On Ravelry

Please make sure you’re signed into Ravelry when you purchase the pattern so that the infosheet and future clues will go into your Ravelry library!

If you’ve accidentally purchased the pattern without being signed in, you may be able to add it at this link: https://www.ravelry.com/purchasefinder

Preorder the Twenty Four Birds MKAL On Gumroad

If you purchase on Gumroad, you’ll also want to be signed into your Gumroad account so that you can find the MKAL infosheet and future clues in your Gumroad Library, which you can access by clicking right here. Once you get there and sign in, just click on the Twenty Four Birds MKAL image and you’ll see the PDF infosheet waiting for you, ready to download.

Once you purchase the pattern, congrats! You’re in!

Remember, this is a presale. You’ll download a PDF info sheet when you purchase the pattern, and then you will automatically receive updates on Ravelry or by email when each clue is released, starting on March 21st.

As the date of the first clue gets closer, I have more info and inspiration to share with you, so stay tuned. Happy knitting!
