The Handmade Sock Society collection of mystery Sock patterns is returning for a 6th season!
For those of you who’ve been part of the Curious Crew for years, you’re probably already familiar with these mystery collections and eager to see what’s coming next.
But if you’re newer to our community, you might be wondering what exactly a “Sock Society” is and why you’d want to join one.
Simply put, it’s a six-month adventure where we knit delightful sock patterns together, one surprise design at a time. Each month brings a new pattern reveal, adding an extra spice of anticipation to our sock-knitting. Our first design will be revealed on May 1st, 2025, with a new pattern following each month through October.
Presales are now open for The Handmade Sock Society 6 at a special Early Bird Price of 40% off!

So…onto this year’s theme!
She preferred most of all to live with flowers and music and to have a book, in quiet solitude. ― Hermann Hesse, from “Iris”, The Fairytales of Hermann Hesse
For the sixth season of The Handmade Sock Society, we’re exploring a light-filled dream world of bookish, writerly delights—those sunlit reading rooms, the joy of stationary, the quiet rituals of tea and contemplation, and the warm glow of discovery.
Don’t worry about your experience level – these patterns work beautifully for newcomers and longtime sock knitters alike. You’ll discover thoughtful details like touches of lace reminiscent of vintage bookplates and gentle cables that curve like handwritten script. Each new technique comes with clear instructions and plenty of community support.
I love watching beginners cast on their very first stitches alongside knitters whose drawers are filled with handmade treasures. Our community grows with each project, creating a space where everyone belongs.
This journey happens at your pace. Our knitalong has a natural rhythm – thoughtful, unhurried, and satisfying. If you ever find yourself stuck on a technique, our friendly group is always ready to offer guidance, share tips, and celebrate your progress, whether you’re moving quickly or taking your time with each stitch.
What’s next?
I’ll be sharing the sample yarn I used for our first secret sock pattern, and I’ll return soon with all the details and more about our knitterly literary adventure to come.
Until then, perhaps find a sunny corner, brew a pot of tea, and prepare your needles for a season of scholarly stitching and shared discovery…
